Kings Rick won’t be like
Terrible kings, both real and fictional, are often characterized by their profound cruelty, incompetence, or descent into madness, which leads to immense suffering for their subjects. For example:
REAL - Gaius Caligula (Roman Emperor, AD 12–41)
Caligula began his rule with promise but quickly became known for his erratic and tyrannical behavior after a severe illness. His reign was marked by homicidal tendencies, executing allies and random individuals alike, and engaging in bizarre displays of power, such as demanding to be worshipped as a god.
FICTIONAL - Mad King Aerys II Targaryen from Game of Thrones
Though deceased at the outset, Aerys's reign of terror is the catalyst for the story. Driven by paranoia and an obsession with wildfire, he burned people alive and laughed as they screamed, including Rickard and Brandon Stark. In his final moments, he planned to burn all of King's Landing to the ground rather than let his enemies take the city, a plot that led his own Kingsguard member, Jaime Lannister, to kill him.
