King Rick Can’t Lie

I want to talk about Founding Fathers (Founding Mothers deserve a talk of their own), starting with the original Honest Man. The story goes that a young George Washington received a hatchet as a gift and accidentally chopped down his father's cherry tree. When confronted, he bravely confessed, "I cannot tell a lie; I did cut it with my hatchet," and his father was so pleased with his son's honesty that he forgave him.

Cool, right? Except that it’s not true. But we knew that, right? How ironic to lie to promote telling the truth. Well, it mostly worked--until recently. Here’s the point: Who among us has never lied? However, as your Philosopher King, Rick must have an insatiable passion for truth and a lifelong dedication to philosophical inquiry. Like George W., he cannot tell a lie.

So, vote Rick for King ’28.
